Russian Censor Markings
Beginning 1 October 1903, some mail collected from Germany’s Pacific colonies was transported to Germany via the Trans-Siberian Railway. This routing was permanently terminated upon the outbreak of World War I. In the period immediately prior to the outbreak of World War I, Russia began censoring mail passing via this route.
