70th Anniversary of the Postal Card
This card was prepared for issue at an exhibition in Berlin on 1 October 1939 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the first postal card. However, the exhibition was canceled due to the onset of WWII. The cards were never issued, but became available to collectors after being looted from the State Printing Works in Vienna at the close of WWII.
The stamp design on the card is similar in design (though not color) to the Hitler’s 50th Birthday postal stationery (MiNr. P278) and 1938 Nürnberg Party Rally stamp (MiNr. 672).
