During WWII, the Jews housed in the Łódź/Litzmannstadt ghetto formed their own postal service within the ghetto. In 1944, the Łódź ghetto became the only ghetto to publish its own postage stamps.
The second set was issued in March 1944, in 5-, 10-, and 20-Pfennig values.
The stamps feature Chaim Rumkowski, the Polish Jew selected by the Germans to head the Jewish administration within the ghetto.
