This series was issued on 18 May 1939 to commemorate auto races held 21 May and 23 July 1939, at the Nürburgring.

These stamps are the 1939 International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition issues (MiNr. 686-688) overprinted “NÜRBURGRING-RENNEN”.
